Huangshan is the source image of Chinese landscape painting — and the only place where the painting and the photograph are the same picture.

We sleep on the mountain. That single decision is what turns Huangshan from a crowded cable-car day trip into a two-dawn shoot: sunset on the Xihai steps, blue hour on Shixin, and first light from Bright Summit or the Beginning-to-Believe Peak, chosen that morning from the wind direction.
