China Photography Trip

China Photography Trip is a dedicated division of Photo Tours, specialising in blue hour, sunrise and sunset landscape photography, as well as local cultural and humanistic subjects across China – including Guilin, Xinjiang, Guizhou, Zhangjiajie, Xiapu and Beijing. We cater to a wide spectrum of clients, from families and couples to corporate groups and film crews, all united by a shared goal: to capture superior-quality photography, take in breathtaking bird’s-eye views via drone, and experience an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime photography trip.

Our team is made up of professional photography guides with fluent English proficiency. With deep roots in Guilin and Zhangjiajie, we craft bespoke themed itineraries for both cultural documentary and landscape photography. We are passionate about travel, eager to explore off-the-beaten-path routes, savor authentic local flavors, and above all, share our professional expertise and on-the-ground local insights with our clients.

China Photography Trip Studio is a privately owned boutique studio, dedicated exclusively to creating high-quality fine art imagery of natural landscapes and cultural documentary subjects. Headquartered in Guilin, China, the studio was founded in 2017 by Mr. Top Huangxu (Gao Huangxu), who currently serves as the studio’s Director, overseeing the full scope of operations and management across all segments of our photography business.

Top Huangxu (Gao Huangxu) was born in a small mountain village in Yangshuo. From 1996 to 2000, he studied at Guangxi Normal University, majoring in English Education, and graduated successfully in 2000. After graduation, he worked as a primary school teacher for 2 years, before entering the tourism industry. He then served at a travel agency for 3 years, where he was a core member of the team responsible for building the agency’s official website.

From 2006 to 2016, Top Huangxu worked as a full-time professional tour guide in Guilin, serving successively at multiple leading domestic tourism enterprises, including China Youth Travel Service (CYTS), China International Travel Service (CITS), China Travel Service (CTS), and Lijiang International Travel Service (LJITS). Over this decade, he developed a deeply rooted, intimate knowledge of Guilin: he is well-versed in the region’s history, iconic photography locations, and ethnic minority cultures, and has maintained deep, long-standing friendships with local indigenous families for 15 years.

Top Huangxu is deeply beloved by visiting tourists and photography enthusiasts who come to the region for creative shoots. During this period, he also began shooting a vast range of landscape photography works for clients, and quickly immersed himself in Guilin’s photography tour sector, growing into one of Guilin’s leading landscape photographers. In 2016, he made his official career transition to become a full-time landscape and cultural portrait photographer, and is proficient in photo post-processing and retouching with Lightroom (LR) and Photoshop (PS).

Top Huangxu is a fully licensed independent tour guide in China, and a member of the China Tour Guides Association, which was overseen by the former China National Tourism Administration (CNTA).

Top Huangxu boasts profound professional expertise in landscape photography, with a client portfolio spanning editorial teams, individual photography enthusiasts, and full end-to-end delivery capabilities for highly complex commercial advertising shooting projects.

The professional expertise you will gain here will empower you as a landscape and portrait photographer to define your creative goals and unlock your full artistic potential.
